Viral social media song draws attention to damaged Eastern Bypass road, Minister Shankar Ghosh visits site

Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh on Friday inspected the deteriorated stretch of the main road connecting Asighar More and Naresh More on the Eastern Bypass in the Dabgram-Phulbari Assembly constituency after a resident's song highlighting the poor condition of the road went viral on social media. The road has reportedly remained in a dilapidated condition for the past three years, causing inconvenience to commuters and local residents. Following the widespread circulation of the song, the minister visited the site to assess the condition of the road and interact with residents.

According to local residents, hundreds of toto vehicles, school buses, and other vehicles use the road every day. They said large potholes along the stretch have led to frequent major and minor accidents, forcing commuters to travel under constant safety concerns. Residents stated that repeated complaints to the administration had failed to produce any visible action, following which a local youth composed and shared a song on social media to draw attention to the issue. The song gained significant public attention, prompting the minister's visit.

The minister visited the area along with Dabgram 2 Gram Panchayat Pradhan Mitali Malakar and inspected the damaged road. During the visit, residents also raised concerns regarding inadequate drainage and the accumulation of garbage at several locations. Shankar Ghosh heard the complaints and assured residents that repair work on the road would begin soon and that efforts would be made to address the drainage and sanitation issues raised during the inspection.
